Happy New Year! Your new year’s resolutions are in place and off to a great start. Congratulations! This is the busiest time of year health club membership sales. You are excited about making changes, but at the back of your mind you say to yourself, “How often have your New Year’s resolutions fizzled after about a month?” This year, do something different to ensure that your goals and dreams come true.

Often times, when we are motivated to make change, we do something. And, we often overdo something to the point of burn-out because it is too much, too soon and is not realistic to keep going at that pace. We should do something and set goals that are reasonable, but we also need to feel things, visualize things, and be open to asking for what we want on a spiritual level.

When we ask for help to achieve what we really want and are open to signs of spiritual guidance, we open our hearts and things seem to just happen. When we believe in a higher being and can call upon outside factors to aid us in making courageous moves, changes and healing, we tend to do better. It is important to decide what you want your life to be like and to have Faith that it will happen. This keeps us positive and more determined and gives us a sense that we are not alone in our efforts.

Visualize what you want to have happen and focus on that. Pray that things will turn out to be this way and keep the sensations of how that outcome will feel to you on the front burner. For example, imaging yourself doing something you love to do right now. Picture it in your mind’s eye. Notice what you sense in your body. Are you smiling? Are you feeling warm, happy? With those feelings, you are in a very healthy space with good vibrations as the Beach Boys sing. In that state, we attract more of the same vibrations and experiences. Like attracts like. Depression attracts depression. Pessimists attract negativity. Positive and happy people attract that back. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Many things are not proven in this world. Yet, account after account of small coincidences and miracles are given when people are in need and believe in a life outside of them. Our minds are very powerful. Our minds are more powerful and affective then we know consciously such that we create changes we don’t plan just by what we think. When we expect failure, we often reap failure. Even when you keep your negative thinking to yourself, it seems to seep out into the atmosphere and create a self-fulfilling prophecy. With that in mind, it is vital to train ourselves to eliminate negative thinking and expectations from our thoughts the moment we are aware of them and replace them with positive expectations and sensations that go with the visualization of the experiences we wish to have in our lives.

Practice affirming statements such as, “I deserve love. I deserve happiness. I am not alone. I am loveable. I am worthy. I can do this. I am okay the way I am.” Visualize the life you want at home, work and play and expect to get it. Experience the sensations of happiness in your body. Believe in a world beyond yourself that is way more powerful than you alone. Set goals that are realistic and easily achievable, one small step at a time and believe in yourself that you will indeed get what you want.

If you build it, they will come. If you dream it, it will come true. Give yourself alone time to expect the outcomes you want. Dismiss any distracting interference or old history that can negatively impact your expectations for the future. Create the possibilities in your head for what you want and expect to get it. Stay positively focused this year and see how your future unfolds!
